For the third year in a row the Spokane Christian Church worship band, "The Void Reclaimed" played a field of 51,258 runners and walkers for this year’s Bloomsday Run, an increase of nearly 4,000 over last year.  With many disciples there with us to cheer on the runners and share the love of God with the community, it was a fun and faith-building day.

We had prayed that God would hold off the rain from 6AM-1PM during our setup, performance, and teardown time, and God totally answered that prayer with the rain just starting to fall at about 1:20PM.  It was so encouraging to see the serving hearts of all the disciples there to help and cheer on the runners and see so many runners/walkers going by raising their hands to God, saying, "Thank you!" as they went by.  It was also so great to see many in the church run/walk by and we could be there to encourage them as they neared the finish line.  It's like the Bible says, (Proverbs 11:25) "A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed."

It's our prayer that we could share God's love with so many and be the hands and feet of Jesus in some way through our service.  We also pray that whether in the short or long run, many would come to church and become disciples of Jesus Christ through this event.  There are many good things we may never see or know about that come about through this event, but regardless we hope that God gets honored through this.

Thank you so much to the many (too many to mention) who came and helped us set up and tear down, and to everyone who came and encouraged the runners...without you, we're just another band playing music...but your presence makes this event so much more.  Thank you so much!

If you ran/walked in Bloomsday, don't forget to vote for us by May 6th!  Go to http://www.bloomsday.org/castvote.asp and vote for the Spokane Christian Church Band.
