Plans to Extend Aid to Poor and Needy in 2012

HOPE worldwide is grateful to its many financial supporters who stood behind our important work for the poor during 2011.

Randy Jordan, the organization's CEO, conveyed the thanks of the entire HOPE worldwide team, saying, "Our supporters not only helped us finish the year strong, but also provided vital momentum as we approach an even more demanding year of helping those in need." Thank you for standing with us in another year of service to the poor."

Financial Support Increases in Challenging Economy
Reports on charitable giving trends continue to address the challenges facing nonprofits of all sizes. The 2011 "Giving USA" report states that it could be as long as 2016 until donations return to pre-recession levels. While charitable giving across the U.S. for the past two years has remained relatively flat, HOPE worldwide has seen increased giving. In 2011 giving to HOPE worldwide from individuals and partnership churches exceeded $4.5 million. These donations included more than $888,000 raised to help people in crisis following political unrest in the Ivory Coast.

In addition to individual contributions, more than 60 churches rallied in support of the International Day of Giving, producing the highest level of contributions in the campaign's three-year history. Donations from the International Churches of Christ increased by 22% from 2010 to 2011.

"We are incredibly grateful for the loyalty and sacrifice of our supporters," says David Blenko, Chief Development Officer. "During this economically challenging time, your giving has run counter to industry trends. We know our supporters are not exempt from financial hardships. This strong giving reflects your heart for and strong commitment to helping the poor and needy in the spirit of Galatians 2:10: 'we should continue to remember the poor'"
