Volunteer Lab Technician Needed in Cambodia Featured

SKMHSonja Kill Memorial Hospital (SKMH), in cooperation in cooperation with HOPE worldwide, would like to welcome an experienced Lab Technician to come teach, provide training, and work in this delightful new healthcare facility serving the poor and needy of southern Cambodia. Located on the outskirts of Kampot province, SKMH began accepting patients in April 2012.

The laboratory currently services 15 to 45 patients per day requiring a broad range of clinical tests such as hematology, chemistry, and microscopy. One full-time Cambodian national technician is available, and the lab is equipped with compact, semi-automatic analyzers to include the HumaLyzer 3000 Biochemistry Analyzer, the HumaLyte Plus 5 Electrolyte Analyzer, and the Sysmex pocH-100i Hematology Analyzer. Microbiological lab culture testing is now possible with the Esco Class II Biological Safety Cabinet, and future expansion is planned for blood bank operations.

Khmer language proficiency is not required, but a willingness to learn basic language skills is appreciated. Minimum three-month stay required with option to extend.
