Small Church has Big Retreat to Start 2012

Tuesday, 31 January 2012 17:15

Greetings from the combined fellowship of the Ramstein-KMC, Germany and Dudelange, Luxembourg Church of Christ! We are excited to share great new and encourage all the small churches around the world. We are a small group of 11 disciples and 9 children. Recently, our fellowship had a 2012 kick-off retreat.

CJ and Sheree Wakefield, from Glasgow, Scotland, came to Luxembourg and Ramstein to help us get our hearts right and re-focus on God. We have the faith and vision for this part of Western Europe. One of the things that we are learning here is that with few people and a mustard seed of faith God can do great things.
Our fellowship is made up mostly of military affiliated families and some, who have job situations that have made it difficult to move or resituate. We decided not to just make the best of our situation, riding out the storm and doing the minimum until we have a chance to move on, but we decided to glorify God in our present situations. We studied out the story of Gideon, one of the first leaders of Israel. Though Gideon was the smallest of the small, God used him powerfully. The key to Gideon’s story that we agreed to apply here is, Judges 16:4 - …’Go in the strength you have and save ….’
Though God gives us everything we need, including his Spirit, we are tempted to ask for more before acting. We have repented and are now acting! Several people are studying the Bible and we are seeing miraculous things happening right before our very eyes.
We want to encourage disciples who are in the U.S. military to consider the Ramstein, Germany area as a duty station as well as welcoming disciples who want to perhaps get a new start in life in Luxembourg.
We ask for disciples around the world to pray for our church and for the completion of God’s mission, helping to establish a lasting fellowship in this area of Germany and towards evangelizing one of the last countries to be evangelized – Luxembourg, a country rich monetarily yet needs so much help spiritually.
