Be Distinctive: Sermon from The Charlotte Church Featured

Tuesday, 06 September 2016 15:06

It has been an onslaught of events. And from them we knew we were all being attacked! However, the perpetrator is not an earthly terrorist organization that can be seen. No, this evil force is none other than Satan himself, along with, “…the rulers, the authorities, and the power of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Our world and our very nation is being torn apart by the crippling manacles of hatred on all levels; from one man to another, from one religion to another, from one tribe to another, from one race to another, from one class to another, and yes, from one house to another.

FullersThe violence that has taken place in our generation once was dominated by race, with the mounting number of blacks being killed by white police officers who in turn were not indicted and allowed to go free with no justice being realized by the victims or their families. The silent cries of African Americans erupted into loud protests.

Similarly, there are loud protests happening all over the globe due to a lack of justice and change. Martin Luther King, Jr., in a 60 Minutes interview in 1966 said that, “…a riot is the language of the unheard…”  And, undoubtedly, the African American along with scores of others have been unheard for generations, and yet the pendulum of violence has become unhinged, beginning to swing in all directions and impacting people from every nation of men.

As children of God we are faced with a mountainous choice that we cannot make righteously without the guiding of the Holy Spirit. We are on the shores of a surging ocean that we cannot cross without the breath of our Lord blowing a pathway for us to dry ground. Our choice is whether to handle the racism and violence of our day in the same manner as the world, or in the manner taught us by our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

And we must show mankind how to cross over from death to life by the gospel of that same man who gave his life as a “ransom for many.” This sermon on July 17, 2016 by Ron Drabot and Rodney Fuller, evangelists of The Charlotte Church, is only the beginning. A beginning of crucial conversations and decisions that face not only the saints in Charlotte, North Carolina, but God’s people all over the world. Our hope is that this message will prompt critical dialogue and changes that will bring glory to our Father in heaven, and result in the salvation of countless souls.
