If you answered yes to these questions, then an internship at the Great Land Christian Church in Alaska may be just for you! We are looking for a few eager young adults during the Fall of 2013 – Spring 2014 to help us continue to build an AWESOME ministry here in Alaska!What the Great Land Christian Church can offer you:
- The opportunity to serve in a healthy, dynamic, and growing church family! Based on your strengths, you could serve in a number of different ministries, including the Teens, Campus, and/or Singles!
- The opportunity to learn new skills that will benefit you no matter where you go! Learn how to meet the needs of people, to more effectively communicate your faith to others, and to live a healthy, faithful, and balanced life!
- Possible paid work available through HOPE worldwide AmeriCorps! Several slots will be available to work as an AmeriCorps member. Our AC members work at several schools in the Anchorage School District, as well as design, plan, and implement HOPE worldwide’s service events! Note: selection for an internship does not necessarily guarantee an AmeriCorps position. Selection will be based upon meeting specific job criteria.
- The chance to experience the real Alaska! From the tallest mountain in North America to 20 hours of daylight in the summer to record-breaking snowfall in the winter, the Alaskan experience is one that will not be forgotten!
What we expect from you:
There is a lot to do here in Alaska. Our Campus Ministry is active and growing, our Teen Ministry is still being developed, and our chapter of HOPE worldwide is extremely active in service to those in need. It really is the Last Frontier! Not only do we want to help as many as possible come to God, but we also expect that you will build your character, and grow in your personal skills and abilities. With that in mind, here are some things that we expect from all of our interns:
- A desire to work hard, serve, and grow in your character.
- An open mind that is willing to LEARN and try new things, contribute to making important decisions, take ownership, and seek constant improvement in yourself.
- A desire to share your faith, and possibly lead Bible talks/discussions.
- Participation in weekly meetings with church leadership in order to lay out goals, plan the week, and discuss lessons learned.
- Participation in regular trainings that pertain to anything from large-scale event planning to preaching and teaching to personal finance, and a willingness to teach what you learn.
- A desire to explore Alaska and HAVE FUN!
